My passion in physiotherapy is understanding a client's needs and using manual, exercise, and complementary therapy services to optimise health outcomes and provide relief from pain and disability.

I specialise in spinal pain, sports physiotherapy, and post-operative rehabilitation.

My career began after graduation in 1985 from the Lincoln Institute in Melbourne some 30 years ago, with post-graduate specialisation in Manipulative Therapy (1991). I have worked many years in public hospitals and ran the outpatient’s department at The Hammersmith Hospital as a Superintendent Physiotherapist in London for 3 years.I moved to private practice in 1994 and have worked in many excellent clinics in England and Melbourne, before arriving in Drysdale.

We look forward to meeting and caring for you.

Jenny Layton

Acupuncturist

As a registered acupuncturist since 2001, I combine my training in the theories of traditional Chinese medicine dating back thousands of years, with the latest research into the biomedical effects of acupuncture. I am to balance and strengthen one’s physical and emotional health. I hold Bachelor’s degree in Science and Health Science (Acupuncture), and a Master’s by Research in Complementary Medicine (2018).

Acupuncture can assist with pain relief, hormone balance, deeper sleep, efficient digestion, and steadier emotions. The idea of change is central to Chinese philosophy, and many people find that acupuncture allows them to make changes in their lives more easily, as their stagnant ‘qi’ (vital energy) begins to flow freely again.

My approach is to provide gentle acupuncture, in a supportive environment, where the client seeking treatment is always central to the process. Receiving acupuncture is surprisingly relaxing, as the nervous system rebalances, and tension dissolves.

Gabrielle McMahon

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

I have always enjoyed an active lifestyle, developing my interest in helping others reach their health and rehabilitation goals after a complicated knee injury requiring lots of physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation.

From there I went on to complete my Bachelor of Exercise & Sports Science Degree followed by a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of Ballarat.

Since graduating I have been working in the Bellarine area as an Exercise Physiologist, primarily working with the older population to achieve their goals. I enjoy working with people, assisting them to achieve their goals, whether that be, completing housework, playing with grandkids, recovering from surgery, returning to work, or sport through exercise therapy.

I believe in the expression that “Exercise is Medicine” and with guidance can be extremely beneficial towards achieving a healthy lifestyle.

Monique MacLeod

Pilates Instructor

My passion for health promotion and Pilates instruction has been informed by my professional background in critical care nursing, medical and nursing education, and exercise instruction.

The following health concepts are integrated in my Pilates teaching:

- It is easier to prevent than treat an injury or disease.
- Being of ‘advanced age’ is not synonymous with being frail. Healthy aging is achievable.
- It is never too late to start an exercise program that is appropriate to an one’s abilities.
- Exercise should be enjoyable.

Muscular strength, flexibility, balance, good breathing technique, and maintenance of good posture, through movement, are a focus of my classes. There is also a strong social element. The benefits of laughter and encouragement whilst exercising are undeniable.

Speaking of encouragement…I once encouraged someone, who is afraid of heights, to jump out of a plane, with me, at 15,000 feet. He still says it's one of the most exhilarating things he has ever done, though he does not feel the need to ever do it again!
